Drivers over the age of 50 have seen prices more than triple in the last three years.
Figures recently revealed by Consumer Intelligence, show that Car Insurance premiums have increased on average by 34%, despite statistics showing that there has been no significant increase in serious road accidents within this age group.
Other ages have also seen an increase in their premiums with 25-49 year olds seeing around a 24% price hike compared to 21-24 year olds seeing a 2.9% rise.
Rising costs are said to be down to a number of factors including the increase in Insurance Premium Tax by the Government to 10% last October and the increasing number of whiplash claims.
