As part of the Aviva Community Fund Initiative, we are, this year, supporting the Thoroughbreds Netball Club, which are based in Old Catton, Norwich.
We have been working closely with them this season and our first fundraising event raised more than £50. We have since donated two free tickets to the forthcoming Norwich City vs Sheffield Wednesday football match to be held on Monday 6 April at the Canaries' home ground at Carrow Road in the city. The club, which has a number of different teams, aims to make netball available to everyone and encourages young people from 7 upwards to play. It has been run since the 1970's by tireless family team, Sharon and Robert Lincoln and their daughter, Helen who coaches the Elite teams. Sharon and a team of volunteers supports support the Junior Netball teams across many divisions in the Norwich Netball Leagues.
The initiative aims to fund more than 350 different size projects UK-wide, as voted for by the public, which will make a positive difference to a community. The funding available ranges from £1,000 to £25,000 and covers four categories:
Drayton Insurance, as a business partner to Aviva General Insurance is actively involved with the scheme, but it is open to everyone, including the general public, so if you or someone you know is involved with a local community group, you have until 24 April to submit your application in time for voting to open on 1 May.
